SAAB & Apple - 06.10.11 12:24
S temle si verjetno ne bom prislušil kakšnega novega prijatelja, pa vseeno. Verjetno marsikdo od vas vsake toliko pokuka na www.saabsunited.com. Osebno kliknem gor parkrat na dan, ker sem itak vezan na računalnik zaradi dela. Danes so objavili novico o smrti Steva Jobsa.
V odgovor sem napisal tole (se opravičujem vnaprej za angleščino, ampak trenutno nimam časa prevajat - če komu napisano dela težave z razumevanjem pa lahko okoli vikenda pretipkam):

Please understand I have nothing against Steve when you read this, but I have to share the sentiments with above poster. When I saw the news on Jalopnik today, the first thing on my mind was: "I hope websites that have nothing to do with IT don't follow suit.". And I was mostly thinking of SU at that point.
I really do not approve of the parallels between SAAB and Apple that SU has been drawing for a while now. In my mind, the two brands share little in common. The way most Apple users are perceived and in my experience unfortunately are, is, well, ill-informed and unskilled in the operation and care of their products and more close-minded than most when it comes to other brands/technologies.
That description in automotive terms draws up an image of a BMW/Infiniti/Lexus driver who knows little of the car's ins and outs and is mostly proud of the badge, not the engineering. Again, many of these drivers are great guys, wrench on their cars and consider driving a real pleasure, so don't take this as a bashing. Many of their cars are very fine specimens indeed.
I know pre-GM SAAB, cars and drivers really shouldn't be fitting the bill of Apple, their products and users, respectively. Heck, have you not heard of Gremlins? Those cars remind me more of Linux - feature packed, odd, quirky, engineering solutions before extravagant styling, safety/stability, great performance, susceptible to user made solutions/tuning, rock solid basis, but prone to malfunctioning every now and then, apparently due to Black Magic.
Perhaps it was GM's doing that attempted to portray this brand as something akin to Apple today. Perhaps it now is akin to Apple. Perhaps I'm just a grumpy old misguided man in a much younger man's body. Perhaps it's time for me to take a bow and say goodbye to new SAAB. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps...
I'm off for a blast in my 9000 and maybe watch Pirates of Silicon Valley later in the evening. I do recommend it to everyone, by the way.
Rest In Peace, Steve, you deserve it as much as any man who has worked hard in his life.

Pojasnila: SU v sestavku pomeni spletno stran SaabsUnited. IT pomeni informacijsko tehnologijo, po domače, računalnike in pritikline. Pirates of Silicon Valley pa je dokumentarna dramatizacija dogodkov ob razvoju Appla in Microsofta. Če ste malo v teh vodah (danes je itak skoraj vsak v kontaktu z IT), priporočam ogled.
